Archipelago Stays is a vacation rental marketplace focused on the Philippines. We connect travelers with hosts offering stays in properties listed on our platform. We operate from archipelagostays.com.

2.1 Data you provide

• Account: email, name (optional), language preference. Access is via email link or Google OAuth. We do not store passwords.
• Host profile: public name, contact details for inquiry management.
• Properties: title, description, location, price per night, stay type, photos, video walkthrough (optional).
• Inquiries: name, email, travel dates, message. Shared with the property host.
• Newsletter: email, only if you voluntarily subscribe.
• Verification documents (hosts): proof of address, property video. Only when the host chooses to undergo verification.

2.2 Automatic data

• IP address, browser type, pages visited (basic analytics).
• Session cookies to keep you signed in.

2.3 What we do NOT collect

• We do not request or store government identity documents (ID cards, passports, driver's licenses) in our standard verification process.
• We do not collect credit card data or process payments directly.

Our current verification process is based on:

• Proof of address (utility bill, bank statement)
• Property video walkthrough
• Manual review by our team

Verification is voluntary. Not all listings are verified. A "Verified" listing indicates the host has passed our review process, but does not guarantee stay quality. Travelers should exercise their own judgment when booking.

• Operate the marketplace: display listings, manage inquiries, connect travelers with hosts.
• Verify hosts: review voluntarily submitted documents and property videos.
• Communicate with you: respond to inquiries, send service updates.
• Improve the product: anonymous usage analytics.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

• Hosts: when you submit an inquiry, the host receives your name, email, and message.
• Infrastructure providers: Google OAuth (if you sign in with Google), hosting provider.
• Legal obligations: only when required by law.

• Account data: while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time.
• Inquiries: up to 12 months from last communication.
• Verification documents: retained as long as needed to maintain the host's verification status. Hosts may request deletion, which may affect their verification status.
• Server logs: up to 90 days.

• Access to your personal data
• Correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion of your account and associated data
